Toro! Ole! HireCounsel Deflates The Rate!
"HIRE COUNSEL SPANISH LANGUAGE PROJECT IN WESTFIELD, NJ
Hire Counsel is currently seeking candidates admitted in at least one US jurisdiction for a Spanish Language Project in Westfield, NJ. The project should interview next week and start shortly thereafter. It is a document review project which should run for 4 to 6 weeks, involve 40 hours per week (no overtime) and will pay $32.00 per hour. The rate is on the low end for foreign language work but our client is not requiring any prior document review experience, just fluency in Spanish and admission to at least one US Jurisdiction. For candidates seeking to obtain experience working on a document review project this may be a good opportunity to do so."

HireCounsel is absolute garbage. This project is obviously for Barasso/Deloitte, a notorious NJ toilet that pays the ordinary coders 29/hr with no OT. So you speak Spanish and get $3 an hour more than non-Spanish? Pathetic.
Rates seem to be plunging even for rare languages like Japanese and Turkish etc. With gutter schools like NYLS, Brooklyn and Seton Hall admitting anyone with a pulse, the oversupply of lawyers will continue unabated. Look for $15 an hour for NYC-area doc review by 2012.
This happens when the ABA accredits too many diploma mills. For instance, the NALP reports that the law school Class of 2009 had 44,000 graduates. And only 28,901 required bar passage!!

And how many of those jobs are doc review positions or toiletlaw? NALP also noted that solo practitioners constituted WELL OVER 1,000 of those law firm jobs - and accounted for 2.9% of the overall employment rate (of 88.3 percent).

I thought HireCounsel was going out of business. They got rid of almost all of their recruiters in NYC. They chopped the decent ones too -- Anita, Wade & Margaret (I think that was her name). From what I know Andrew Rider and someone named David are left. Neither of them return phone calls.
Whalefucks...
big giant anal leakage whales, hirecounsel recruiters are.
$18 hr avg nationwide, 2011. U heard it here first.
Ah Westfield. Barrasshole. Those were the days.
It is the economy stupid!
No 4:47, it the toilety legal 'profession' fool and the devils who run it. The so called recession only amplifies the light shown on this toilet profession.
I think Hire Counsel staffed something for today, I got an e-mail about it but no response after I e-mailed back that I'd be available.
Are there any good agencies out there? This one doesn't seem like it actually gets you anything.
From what I gathered there are no good agencies in New York.
process server gig here, unless you too proud. $20/hr, nust have car. I just need 5 service attempts and temps cheaper than process server.
Temp projects are drying up.
Law firms are also still down sizing or weak. Much of the work is being handled in-house. The big firms will probably never recover because of the downsizing of America as a country.
Despite discussion of outsourcing (which is a factor) I think I read somewhere that right now it only accounts for 10 percent of work.
Finally, I did read at one point that the problem is that also projects are being sourced to other locals that are cheaper than NYC, DC or LA. This means they can exploit the worker more without the hassle that outsourcing poses.
Forgot to mention- this means that while agencies are definitely villains in the drama, they are only the henchmen rather than the masterminds. I am surprised half of them are even still around at this point.
As a Spanish reviewer, I have a counter suggestion for Hire Counsel. Why should I not do an English review instead? You are paying the same rate anyway.
Spanish review is more work (because second language), takes more time, and often involves translation and explaining things to people, and is also more scrutinized than getting lost in the sauce with the normal reviewers.
Why the f*** would I do that?
Hello English review!
Look at the smile on the bull's face while he gores the matador in the ass. Perfect photo selection for this posting.
Our client needs 1 Mandarin-fluent attorney for doc review. It's a long-term, translation project, paying $34/hr.
Project is 40 hrs. a week, possibility of OT, long term (several months
Within the next 15 months, I'll predict another 60% of staffing agencies will go out of business or be forced to merge.
There is no market. Everything is morphing. That is, thew law firms and their clients willspend, and have been spending, alot more time with consultants figuring out where to go next.
New world out there bros'!
The contacted me for a legal support position (for specific skills), had me come into the office to interview, then emailed saying legal experience is now required for the position, even though there was no mention of that before. Then I get another email from Hire Counsel asking me to attend another registration meeting even though they had just told me no? Seems pretty unprofessional and dishonest to me.
I love all the posts, I really enjoyed, I would like more information about this, because it is very nice. Thanks for sharing.
