The Return of "Lily"?

"I would just like to let you and your readers know that Hudson is trying to staff a long term project at Hughes Hubbard and Reed again. I don't know if this is for the Vioxx cases that didn't settle or a new case of the same magnitude. I also don't know if they will be reopening the offsite plantation. The Eggman was canned a while back, but Lily is still around."

For those newbies fresh out of law school who haven't had the privilege of running across Lily, you are in for a real treat:

"For those who don't know, 'Lily' is not her actual name. Her real name rhymes with Lily and I will use this psuedonym to protect the guilty.

Anyone at HH knows who she is. She is a grotesque 300 lbs, and her physical deformities are utterly beyond description. Her best friend is a bag of cheetos, and her fat, mangled fingers are often coated with their orange powder. She drives her slaves (this is the slang for 'managing' temps or 'contract attorneys') offsite in a basement in New Jersey. I believe there may be windows, but I have not been there myself to verify this fact.

Lily does maintain a presence in the New York office, rather unfortunately, and we see her rear her ugly head from time to time. Probably just taking orders from some non-equity partner in charge of the firm's various doc review projects. The sole purpose of this woman's existence is to squeeze every last drop of efficiency out of each slave, and to make their miserable lives as horrible as possible, all for $35hour."

Welcome to 2009! Same Lily, much lower rate!

How many times can you recycle the same shit?

Pathetic, Tom. Just pathetic.

Is Lily the 18th year associate nowadays? People that last that long in biglaw are like cockroaches. I guess it's her destiny to be a lifelong slave driver.

The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) has now become one of the focal points of the Securities Exchange Commission and the Department of Justice enforcement programs. Enforcement actions, civil and criminal, are on the rise, and the cost of resolving FCPA actions is getting even more onerous. At the same time, foreign anti-corruption laws and enforcement are also increasing. U.S. and other multinational companies increasingly face FCPA risks in their varied international business activities. Such risks can, however, be detected and managed before problems arise. An experienced faculty of private practitioners, regulators, and prosecutors will provide an in-depth analysis of the FCPA's current trends and their implications. The faculty will discuss timely important information on the latest enforcement trends, international developments, compliance best practices, and risk assessment and mitigation. For more information, please click here or call 212-382-6663 to register.

I worked on a Lily project. I didn't have any problem with her. It was one of the better gigs. She was handsoff and professional. Actually, she was pleasant. Maybe she has mellowed or sweetened with age like wine.

I would not mind $35 an hour, once upon a time I had a corner office at Dechert LLP in Philadelphia. What are the requirements . . . ?

There is no way this thing will pay 35 an hour. Lower rates, people coming out with higher debts, which will lead to more abuse. Killselves now.

As factories closed and the economy changed, young people were repeatedly told that the way to succeed was to get an education.

But that advice hasn’t helped many of today's law and college graduates, according to columnist Bill McClellan of the St. Louis Post Dispatch. It’s the No. 1 topic of conversation among people his age, he says. McClellan’s daughter and a lawyer friend both told him of difficult times for law graduates, who are saddled with student debt on graduation.

Great article discussing the prtatfalls of outsourcing. Don't foreget, the "supervising attorney" of the unlicensed, non JD, non LLM, unlicensed foreigners will be on the hook!

Have fun when the Feds come calling, jackass!

Bregman actually lost a sumo wrestling match to Lily. The terms were the loser gets laid off. Shamed that a 450 pound man couldn't defeat a 300 pound woman, he immediately got gastric bypass surgery and is now a svelte 240 pounds. Next up: a tummy tuck.

The big problem with Eggman as a sumo wrestler was that he's too tall. Although he had more than enough girth to barrel over an opponent, at 6'3" or so, his center of gravity was too high to have been effective against Lily's lower center of gravity, which is why she defeated him.

DA: Nigeria scammer stole 150 IDs
By LAURA ITALIANO

Last Updated: 2:26 PM, October 28, 2009

Posted: 1:55 PM, October 28, 2009

As temps from hell go, officials say this one takes the cake -- and whatever mother's maiden names he can get his hands on.

Manhattan prosecutors say a 19-year-old Nigerian computer whiz stole the personal financial information of 150 fellow employees during a brief but busy three-month temping stint at Bank of New York Mellon back in 2001, authorities said today.

Since then, he has used the info to steal their identities, along with $1.1 million from an assortment of charities, according to an indictment announced today.

Adeniyi Adeyemi, now 27 -- who lives in a one-bedroom in Brooklyn crowded with seven laptops and a packrat-worthy passel of paperwork -- is due to plead not guilty this afternoon to charges of grand larceny, identity theft, money laundering and computer tampering.

Over the years, Adeyemi used the personal information he stole from his former fellow bank workers to set up bank and brokerage accounts in their names, said Manhattan DA Robert Morgenthau.

That way, Adeyemi could hide his real money-making scheme: Using the checking account and routing numbers many charities and non-profits carelessly post online to transfer small amounts of money out of the charities' accounts and into the dummy accounts he set up in the names of his ID theft victims, Morgenthau said.

The victim charities include Goodwill Industries, and many more with much lower profiles, including Iris Ministries, the Kalgidhar Trust, the Sudanese American Community Development Organization, and the American Friends of Birdlife International.

He was only caught when he got greedy and decided to steal from his ID-theft victims directly -- and investigators realized so many of them worked at Bank of New York, said Chief Assistant DA Mark Dwyer.

Investigators are hinting that Adeyemi worked as part of a ring, and may have used some of his stolen fortune to buy his way into a sham marriage that enabled him to stay in the U.S.

The Post about the Nigerian must from an Indian LPO because the person in the article was not an attorney.

Plus the transaction in question dates to 2001.

I would suggest you get more current material, Babu.

Lily is a fucking cunt. And that's not a word that I throw around lightly -- she is pure, unadulterated evil. Then again, if I was a late-fortysomething permanent senior associate (read: a glorified staff attorney) who could lose an entire hoagie in one of her (many) folds of fat and who probably hasn't gotten laid since the early days of the Reagan administration, I'd probably be an evil cunt too.

people, getting a f-cking life! Your still talking about Eggman 18 months after he got canned? How booring must your lives be that you are still thinking about Lily and Eggman?
