I am getting $45 through Cluth. I heard Tower is paying $42 and Lex is paying $43.
I love it when they warn you not to discuss your rate with other people on the project. Right, like we are really going to keep mum to protect your profits.
I love the way that Joselle from Clutch browbeats you into working more hours at Skadden. By the way, you can't trust Skadden in regard to the duration of a project. They lie all the time. Their site is depressing with lousy facilities and they put people on top of each other. And of course they never pay time and a half or provide transportation.

Hudson is trying to bring down the market. currently, it is at $35-40 an hour. They have the nerve to try and lower it to $24! and keep the extra $15 an hour per person. C'mon, why would you betray other contract attorneys and lower yourself for such a job.

Basically, all agencies suck. They lie to you and exploit you, all the while crossing their fingers that you won't do anything crazy on their behalf and embarrass them or help them lose their client.
The funny thing is, most temps are registered with multiple agencies, so while an agency might pretend to "different" or "more exclusive" or "use a strict screening process" they are full of shit. You see the same retread temps on every project. They will take any kind of idiot to fill the chair and click....there ain't no vetting of the temps, as we've seen over and over again. The agencies are full of lazy phone jockies, eager to fill seats as quickly as possible so they get the biggest share of the project.

Thats why it is important to save your money when you are on a project so that you wont take a project like Hudson is offering at the first whim.
So let's recap:
-No to Hudson
-No to Update
-No to Tower (because obviously the person who runs it isn't hot enough, now if that's not grounds for boycott, I don't know what is)
-No to Clutch (because they ask you to work hours which biglaw associates NEVER hear)
-No to Lex

It is I, the anti-Christ of almost all that is the law profession. Though I rarely, if ever, care to make positive comments on most of those who control the profession of the law I must do so now.
I see that there are some ungrateful toileteer lemmings who trash the names of Skadden and Tower Legal along with that of Leslie Firtell.
First off, which project at Skadden do you speak of? There are many. And the rates are different that what is stated above.
As far as the project that I am aware of, there is only one agency staffing it and it is NOT Hudson or the agency named after a manual transmission automobile part. And definately NOT Update. Nor the one with a name similar to that of a luxury Japanese automobile.
Secondly, compared to many of the shit projects and temp agencies that I am contacted about and that are bandied about on this and other boards/blogs....the Skadden and Tower folks run 1st class operations and treat their temps extraordinarily well.
Most toileteer temp lemmings should be so lucky to work for Skadden and Tower when many are either unemployed, underemployed, working in shit law (firms like Systain, LLP, the mythological Sullivan & Clownshop and the Joe Fig Lapdance Firm), or for the types of temp gigs paying $24 hourly posted by the new Update Legal of the world......Hudson.
Hudson used to be decent but they have been hell bent on surpassing Update in grimyness over the last year or so and they seem to be prevailing in that endeavor.
If you are on a project for Tower and Skadden be thankful for you could do much worse. If you are unemployed, in shitlaw or working for the likes of Update and Hudson then god save you.

Why are you complaining about the hours? You can either choose to quit a project with long hours or not join it in the first place. It is employment at will, for better or for worse. As an associate you do not have that option.

How can you even compare SF crime to NYC's? SF is a city that constrains its police and literally allows the criminals and homeless to run wild. In SF, aggressive homeless and drug pushers troll the streets. I once saw a homeless guy defecating in a public fountain. NYC may have transformed itself into a modern day Disneyland, but thank god for the NYPD!
Don't fool yourself into a false sense of security. NYC is a dangerous place, yes far less so than before, but it doesn't take much to crack the veneer and descend into darkness. I sincerely hope you never get mugged, but I assure it happens every day. Be careful out there. I guess you never watch the evening news.

Tower put me on the best project I have ever been on. It was a month of HEAVEN. Anyone who says anything bad about Tower is simply demented. Considering the crap Hudson and Update pull Tower is a saint by comparison.
And the great thing about Skadden is after you're a partner for a while, they'll farm your useless ass out to become a university president with no credentials, no experience and no talent.
Unless being fat, florid faced and the size of a muppet counts for something.
