I love it when they warn you not to discuss your rate with other people on the project. Right, like we are really going to keep mum to protect your profits.
I love the way that Joselle from Clutch browbeats you into working more hours at Skadden. By the way, you can't trust Skadden in regard to the duration of a project. They lie all the time. Their site is depressing with lousy facilities and they put people on top of each other. And of course they never pay time and a half or provide transportation.
Start date: ASAPExpected Duration: Ongoing AssignmentHours: Overtime expected- must be flexibleLocation: Midtown, Manhattan (Eastside)Rate: $24 /ph Time & One Half after 40 hoursRequirements: JD's needed for document review work- Accounting/Finance/Economics background a PLUS- Must have excellent computer skills If interested, please email your most current MS word resume to: LEGALJOBS@HUDSON.COM
Hudson is trying to bring down the market. currently, it is at $35-40 an hour. They have the nerve to try and lower it to $24! and keep the extra $15 an hour per person. C'mon, why would you betray other contract attorneys and lower yourself for such a job.
Tower sucks, too. I agree with the earlier posting
Basically, all agencies suck. They lie to you and exploit you, all the while crossing their fingers that you won't do anything crazy on their behalf and embarrass them or help them lose their client.
The funny thing is, most temps are registered with multiple agencies, so while an agency might pretend to "different" or "more exclusive" or "use a strict screening process" they are full of shit. You see the same retread temps on every project. They will take any kind of idiot to fill the chair and click....there ain't no vetting of the temps, as we've seen over and over again. The agencies are full of lazy phone jockies, eager to fill seats as quickly as possible so they get the biggest share of the project.
-No to Hudson -No to Update -No to Tower (because obviously the person who runs it isn't hot enough, now if that's not grounds for boycott, I don't know what is) -No to Clutch (because they ask you to work hours which biglaw associates NEVER hear) -No to Lex
Gee! Lots of options for making money if I listen to you trolls.
6:32, You should go ahead and take the Hudson gig paying $26 an hour and maybe your next will pay $15. Keep it up maybe you will be down to $10 an hour in no time.
Thank you 8:24! It's like whose side are these people on? I wish we could unionize, but since it doesn't look doable, I get some solace in imagining the quality of attorney they'll be able to get for $24 an hour!
It is I, the anti-Christ of almost all that is the law profession. Though I rarely, if ever, care to make positive comments on most of those who control the profession of the law I must do so now.
I see that there are some ungrateful toileteer lemmings who trash the names of Skadden and Tower Legal along with that of Leslie Firtell.
First off, which project at Skadden do you speak of? There are many. And the rates are different that what is stated above.
As far as the project that I am aware of, there is only one agency staffing it and it is NOT Hudson or the agency named after a manual transmission automobile part. And definately NOT Update. Nor the one with a name similar to that of a luxury Japanese automobile.
Secondly, compared to many of the shit projects and temp agencies that I am contacted about and that are bandied about on this and other boards/blogs....the Skadden and Tower folks run 1st class operations and treat their temps extraordinarily well.
Most toileteer temp lemmings should be so lucky to work for Skadden and Tower when many are either unemployed, underemployed, working in shit law (firms like Systain, LLP, the mythological Sullivan & Clownshop and the Joe Fig Lapdance Firm), or for the types of temp gigs paying $24 hourly posted by the new Update Legal of the world......Hudson.
Hudson used to be decent but they have been hell bent on surpassing Update in grimyness over the last year or so and they seem to be prevailing in that endeavor.
If you are on a project for Tower and Skadden be thankful for you could do much worse. If you are unemployed, in shitlaw or working for the likes of Update and Hudson then god save you.
Still it's mildly amusing a bit more creative than usual tripe on this blog.
Of course there is no basis to assert that the shit pile at Tower is any lower than at any other agency; in fact, with a name a like Tower, I would imagine the pile to be pretty high.
i want to be an idiot and click for those NYC rates !!!!!!!!!! please... i will document review until i can't see.. i will code everything that moves.. i will drink espresso until my stomach revolts... they can keep the meal money and the cab money... please let me get those new york rates !!!
- signed everywhere else in the document review world..
and throw and good clean mugging and new york uninsured hospital rates, a ride on the filthy subways, a visit from a rat or cockroach or two, eating overpriced delivery slop at 10 pm, listening to the arrogant associates and partners drone on...c'mon 445 where are you now?
hmmm...we hate our jobs...we hate all of the agencies...we hate all firms...we hate the pay rates...we hate the working conditions...we hate free pizza & donuts...we insult everyone imaginable...whaaaaa...they are sending our jobs to India...whaaa we don't get meal allowances anymore...whaaaa...the pay rates are going down...whaaaa..we hate this blog because it backfired on us by exposing us for the true professionals we really are...hmmm
6:56 get over the cockroach bs! I am sure you have not ever seen one on your assignments. In fact, you probably have more in your apartment. move on and talk about things that matter.
"You see the same retread temps on every project. They will take any kind of idiot to fill the chair and click....there ain't no vetting of the temps, as we've seen over and over again"
when you write shit like this you are describing all temps...TTT's blog no longer offers legit info...do you think reputible papers are going to want to write articles on our plight? this shit is embarassing! those partners and associates that you complain about might read this blog and then treat you like a retard and idiot - and then you will wonder why temps get no respect. I need to make a living and your stupid comments aren't going to help me.
No 6:57, this blogs exposes your corrupt practices and it makes you really, really mad. Why do you spend so much time abusing temps anonymously? What, you don't enough fun doing it in person?
am new to temping (and this blog), maybe I haven't been harden but I least I want to be able to earn respect and not walk into a job and have someone judge me because of things on this blog. am from midwest and not use to this kind of nastiness. i'll check in with you in a few months and if I am so angry and bitter like you, I will look for different work.
Why are you complaining about the hours? You can either choose to quit a project with long hours or not join it in the first place. It is employment at will, for better or for worse. As an associate you do not have that option.
This has nothing to do with anything, I'm not even an attorney, but I wanted to say, I've been fucking an Update recruiter for the past month. She's awesome in bed.

Responsibilities include: -Supervision of staff of 5 kitchen workers -Management of the set-up of 25 Conference rooms. -Distribution and verification of all e-mail requests for food and conference room bookings. -Coordination of up to 60 annual in-house events
* Compensation: to $60k * Principals only. Recruiters, please don't contact this job poster. * Please, no phone calls about this job! * Please do not contact job poster about other services, products or commercial interests.
How can you even compare SF crime to NYC's? SF is a city that constrains its police and literally allows the criminals and homeless to run wild. In SF, aggressive homeless and drug pushers troll the streets. I once saw a homeless guy defecating in a public fountain. NYC may have transformed itself into a modern day Disneyland, but thank god for the NYPD!
Don't fool yourself into a false sense of security. NYC is a dangerous place, yes far less so than before, but it doesn't take much to crack the veneer and descend into darkness. I sincerely hope you never get mugged, but I assure it happens every day. Be careful out there. I guess you never watch the evening news.
Tower put me on the best project I have ever been on. It was a month of HEAVEN. Anyone who says anything bad about Tower is simply demented. Considering the crap Hudson and Update pull Tower is a saint by comparison.
And the great thing about Skadden is after you're a partner for a while, they'll farm your useless ass out to become a university president with no credentials, no experience and no talent.
Unless being fat, florid faced and the size of a muppet counts for something.

Hudson, you suck!
Tower is run by that fat, ugly Lesile Fertile. Don't work for them
watch it with that kind of talk about Tower
If you are unhappy with them then you are just an unhappy sot
and yes hudson sucks

we should tell the posselist to not even forward sh*t like that hudson job to us.
so what agencies do you two like then?
I generally like Hudson. If they're selling us out, we're in trouble!
if you generally like Hudson then you already sold out
huh? b4 this they were pretty good.
Basically, all agencies suck. They lie to you and exploit you, all the while crossing their fingers that you won't do anything crazy on their behalf and embarrass them or help them lose their client.

so true so true
bullock where are you? heard you left mccarter in bit of a huff
Thats why it is important to save your money when you are on a project so that you wont take a project like Hudson is offering at the first whim.
So let's recap:
-No to Hudson
-No to Update
-No to Tower (because obviously the person who runs it isn't hot enough, now if that's not grounds for boycott, I don't know what is)
-No to Clutch (because they ask you to work hours which biglaw associates NEVER hear)

10:18, you can't spell.
that is because 10:18 is one of the idiots from towers staffing agency. When will recruiters stop trolling this site.
10:32, you have terrible grammar and capitalization skills.

A mugging? Are you posting from 1976, 6:56?
gee, I hate to break to ya, but there are still a lot of muggings in NYC. It happens far more than you might think in the new Disneyfied New Yawk.
Muggings in New York? What part of town are you hanging out in?
you really must be new to NYC, never heard of a mugging?
I lived here my whole life. You must not have visited here in the past 15 years. I couldn't get mugged if I tried.
This has nothing to do with anything, I'm not even an attorney, but I wanted to say, I've been fucking an Update recruiter for the past month. She's awesome in bed.
Well done and nice to see it goes both ways!
really, which one, Eileen Lamboy? please let us know which one...
Pays more than typical toileteer work...with no law school loans...

Manual to throw, please explain?!
Bullock is working as an electrician, no?

NYC still though, is by far the safest large American city.

I though Skadden had their own in-house staff attorneys to do document review?
