Elaine P. Dine - "E.P. Slime"

This past weekend Elaine P. "Slime" posted a job listing. EXPERIENCED NEED NOT APPLY.

"Major international law firm has an immidiate need for document review attorneys to start an assignment early next week. You must be admitted to the NYS bar to qualify. Due to an extensive conflicts list, people with more than 6 document review projects SHOULD NOT APPLY."

In a subsequent job posting, we discover why "Slime" really wants them unexperienced. Apparently, "Slime" wants them cheap!

"Got a call this morning from E.P.Dine, if anyone is interested.....long term project, $21/hr, 40hrs/week. This profession is really on its way out."

And yet another post that shows your understanding of the system. Agencies get their hiring directive froms the FIRMS, you numbskull. 3 years of this stupidity and still no one get this? How many more years will it take till you get a basic understanding???

Anonymous said...

I think nonetheless there have been problems with Dine (i.e. payment).

Anonymous said...

why do you need to be barred to do document review ??? definitely not the practice of law.....

Anonymous said...

Anyone know which law firm is connected to this gig? I would LOVE to know.

Anonymous said...

It's not that unusual for a first doc review gig. Many attorneys worked as paralegals and attorneys in the Paul Weiss Basement for $18 & $22 per hour. No one says you have to take.

There are plenty of other jobs available at $35 or $40, or at least $30 for a JD. Just wait for one of those. There will always be lowballing sleazeballs in every profession. The trick is not to work for them, and wait for a better deal.

Anonymous said...

"There will always be lowballing sleazeballs in every profession. The trick is not to work for them, and wait for a better deal."

If that's the "trick," why do doc review at all? Why not just hold out for the "better deal" that is BigLaw?

Anonymous said...

You can hold out for biglaw if you like. But for most people, they don't have to work for $21 per hour on a document review project. There are plenty of other options available for doc reviewers. The minimum you should ever have to take in NYC is $30 per hour, for an unclicensed JD. For a licensed attorney you can usually get $33 to $40 or more.

But even for someone who has never worked on a doc review project, $21 is still low. Wait until something better comes along, unless you are desperate.

Anonymous said...

Rates plunging lately due to the massive glut of lawyers. First off, the "real" lawyer jobs in gutter areas like ID and personal injury have plunged to the sub-40 K level. That's if you can even land an interview! Hundreds if not thousands of resumes flood every boiler-room ID mill when they advertise for an entry-level shitlaw lawyer to churn the toilet paperwork and appear in ID shitcourt.

Now doc review is down to $21 an hour. Rumor has it this gig is already filled up. Lots of doc reviews that used to be 40-45 an hour are now 35, and more and more 30-32 an hour gigs seem the norm. Bear in mind that these "jobs" also offer no health coverage, no paid sick leave, no paid vacation, and are as dead-end as it gets (though not any more dead end than ID shitlaw).

Good luck! My prediction is the class of 2008 will be some very unhappy campers indeed! This might be the worst legal market in history!

Anonymous said...

"for most people, they don't have to work for $21 per hour on a document review project."

No they don't. They can instead be unemployed, a.k.a. as "holding out."

Anonymous said...

This is probably just what it implies - conflicts issues......therefore, it must be an extremely large doc review for a multidistrict complex litigation......they just do not want the hassle of vetting everyone, or having to deal with people lying (aka that there is no conflicts issue just to get the gig). I've been on jobs where people blatantly lied about the conflicts issue...even if they took an oath when they were sworn in as an attorney. Dine is no longer run by Craig Brown or "the other one", so have no idea who is calling the shots over there.....but, recall it is now tied to an out of state group who are calling the shots - probably in a state where the highest rate is only $32.....business is slow, can you blame them......they have overhead and mouths to feed too...it is just good business......but I'd hold out and find the other higher paying jobs. August is notoriously slow, the real "gear ups" begin in September, after the "high holidays". The key decision makers are on August vacation with their families.

Anonymous said...

Doc Review is only "Practice" when well paid associates do it. If you do it, it's just paralegal stuff.

Anonymous said...

"They just do not want the hassle of vetting everyone."

You mean they might actually have to work?

Anonymous said...

What's the big deal? Just wait and hold out for something better. Personally, I try to work a lot of hours and save up during my "good" projects. With a little financial planning, you can easily avoid having to be shipped off to the Dine, Compliance, and S + C Siberian labor camps.

Craig S. Brown is by far the sleaziest person I have ever met in the industry. His only talent is that he can look you straight in the eyes & tell you lie after lie without flinching.

Thanks for pointing out Brownie is now at Strategic. Needless to say, I will never take another assignment w/ them.

Anonymous said...

No one will miss you, 8:30. You've probably already been blacklisted.

Strategic Workforce Solutions Inc. Appoints Craig S. Brown as Co-President
05/5/2008

Strategic Workforce Solutions Inc. appointed Craig S. Brown, 49 as co-president, a newly created position. He had been president of Elaine P. Dine Temporary Attorneys & Paralegals.

Anonymous said...

I read a while back that Craig Brown got fired from EP Dine. Don't know if it's true, but I wouldn't be surprised. Here's a link: http://temporaryattorney.blogspot.com/2008/04/help-train-your-foreign-replacements.html

"Craig Brown did not quit EPDine -- he was fired. He's trash and should have been fired long long ago. Those forms he had us filling out were crazy. I think we should refuse to work for Strategic -- oh, by the way, that fucking little troll Shawn Treadwell is now at Strategic too."

2 Questions:

1. Does a stigma attach if a new graduate takes a document review position?

2. Do you think it is BS that a doc reviewer who works for an agency on a NYC law dept. doc. review case will get a preferential look for perm. employment with the NYC law dept. once the doc review is completed?

Anonymous said...

"those forms he had us filling out"

No one made you fill out anything. Last time I checked, slavery was still against the law. You filled out forms because you hoped to get a temp job, as you cannot obviously get a job on your own- temp OR perm.

Anonymous said...

http://temporaryattorney.blogspot.com/2007/01/unbearable-blood-sucking-agencies.html

From the above link: "Strategic Legal recently passed around a "liquidated damages" contract for attorneys who had already been on the project for over a week. Very shady. I am unaware of anyone who has signed it. I certainly don't plan to."

Slavery indeed!

Anonymous said...

That's slavery? Can't wait to see your Civil War.

No wonder you can't even get a measly $21/hr temp job.

Anonymous said...

"1. Does a stigma attach if a new graduate takes a document review position?"

Not for a brand new grad, especially while you're waiting to hear back about the bar exam. After a year, I think there is a stigma.

"Do you think it is BS that a doc reviewer who works for an agency on a NYC law dept. doc. review case will get a preferential look for perm. employment with the NYC law dept. once the doc review is completed?"

It probably won't help you much. But if you're exceptionally diligent and responsible, eager for work and stand out in comparison to your peers, it won't hurt you at all. The professional doc reviewers will resent you and you won't be cool, but treating it like a biglaw job is the only way you'll get noticed. But keep in mind that it's a long shot at best.

Anonymous said...

I'm not surprised to be reading complaints about Craig Brown. When I worked on a project at Boise Schiller a few years back, that bastard withheld my last 2 weeks (120hrs) of pay after I switched to a better project, citing the liquidated damages agreement I signed.

THIS IS ILLEGAL & if I had the money, I would have taken him to court to litigate.

Anonymous said...

I was on a gig through Update. EP Dine had some doc reviewers on the case too. EP Dine failed to pay them for a couple of weeks and they were getting paid less than what the Update people were getting.

Anonymous said...

Update is syphillis, Dine is gonorrhea. Take your pick.

Anonymous said...

re BSF project and the last 120 our week unpaid by Craig Brown. You are aware that NYS DOL has either a 3 or 4 year SOL. You can still submit a complaint, and it doesn't really cost much in attorneys fees. There were several people who were shafted by him on that project. As I recall, several of those people are still within the SOL depending upon when they were fired or left because they were unpaid. In some of those cases, it wasn't so much Craig Brown, but rather the BSF supervising attorney who called the shots - so be sure you are truly identifying the key person who shafted you. It could have been Roger, or that Dutch kid that Mary Boise hired and Roger had to deal with e.g. foisted upon him.

I got the same call from Dine on Saturday...They left me a voicemail with the hours and rate and called it a jr. doc review..What the hell is a Jr doc review? I have been doing this almost 6 months now..I would NEVER take $21 an hour I would honestly rather not work and channel my time into finding something else that paid better. I know some people have to take it, they need the money but the more people that do only help to drive down our rates..Even if people do take it after taxes they are lucky if they bring home $500 a week..I dont know what they are going to do with that living in NY.

Anonymous said...

Look how Slime advertises their temporary attorneys:

"Special Forces
Our Special Forces are exactly that—an elite corps of attorneys available for consulting assignments at a fraction of the cost of outside counsel. In fact, our Special Forces attorneys typically cost less than law firm paralegals!"

HAHAHA. Send in the "Special Forces" who will work for $21 an hour with no benefits.

Frankendine projects resemble a circus sideshow and/or the actual Frankenstein monster because they can only get rejects, social retards, and bitter old people to work on them. They never pay OT, and when they advertise OT, it's always a bait and switch.

The rest of the temp world is hip to Frankendine's game already and avoids them.

The only reason their temp division stays in business is because they have the NYC Office of the Corporate Counsel contract, which they keep getting because of lowball bids. Anyone ever been on one of these freakshow projects?

When you read some of the posts that stick around - one has to wonder what reaches a level so high it gets removed by TTT.

That said, these temp agencies are inherently nothing more than pimps and we are their cheap ho's that they send to their John's. It's so sad really. So many of us had such high hopes and were once proud about our chosen vocation.

The legal marketplace has always been bad.

I graduated from a top 30 school in the top 1/3 of my class in 1982. The were no effin jobs in 1982. Since I was not law review, was a (still am) white male, I was SOL.

I went to work for the lousiest job available in 1982: a Legal Editor at Prentice-Hall in Paramus NJ. It involved taking the "A" train through loust Harlem and Washington Heights, getting off at the lousy GW Bus Station, waiting for a Bus for a 15-20 minute ride to scenic Paramus, NJ, getting off the bus next to the Bergen Mall, and walking 3 minutes through sunshine and snow and rain to the building, spending the day gathering cases for a looseleaf publication (no, it wasn't state and local taxes--that was the lowest of the low in the dungeon), physically cutting and pasting summaries of them them using U-HOO sticks onto white paper, and repeating the cycle after each publication.

If one was so inclined, one could join the UNION. Yes, there was a union, same as the union supermarket cashiers have, Local 1199.

How much did one earn? Starting salary was (drumroll)...$16,999 a year. That was not a whole hell of a lot better than maybe $25,000 or $30,000 is today. Maybe about the same. You haven't lived until you've been turned down for a several thousand dollar overdraft because you are making less than the paperboy.

So, those of you making $60k to $80k with temping, think about life even worse.

Anonymous said...

Oh, and one other thing I forgot to mention. At Prentice-Hall Looseleaf Services Division, after several years, if one was truly exceptional, and dedicated, one could move up from Editor 1 at $16,999 to Editor 2 at $17,999.

There was much to look forward to.

If you haven't heard about the new Ben Stiller movie, Tropic Thunder, check it out. The character of Les Grossman, played in a fat suit by Tom Cruise, is Craig Brown's doppelganger. From NYT's review: "Hands down the most noxious character in “Tropic Thunder” is Les Grossman, the producer of the movie-within-a-movie, who’s played by an almost unrecognizable Tom Cruise under a thick scum of makeup and latex. Heavily and heavy-handedly coded as Jewish, the character is murderous, repellent and fascinating, a grotesque from his swollen fingers to the heavy gold dollar sign nestled on his yeti-furred chest."

I was toilet trained and had oppressive student loans when I graduated, and I cannot believe that someone would even think about going through 6 document review projects. I had to put my time in and go to a toilet ID firm (cuntryslime) before I got the experience to get a 120K for a 9-5 job with good benefits (I pay 25$ a month for excellent med benefits,5% 401k match and 4 weeks vacation - no stress). I have a career, don't let the TTTs of the world allow you to get discouraged. You cannot get experience clicking a screen for 14hours a day, even if it pays better than a real job. Don't stay at a sweatshop for more than
months!! It will destroy your self esteem and will to live!!

Anonymous said...

What you fail to realize, 10:33 is that the retards here don't qualify for ANY perm jobs whatsoever. They don't chose to temp over perm, they have NO CHOICE. Some do, but the majority of the retards who comments here do not.

Time to face facts.

Anonymous said...

10:48, I just discovered this blog yesterday, and I find these people pathetic. You sound like a temp agency person, and I'm sure you've seen your share of idiots. I jst don't understand why these "attorneys" think they are so entitled to something when they're not doing anything to prove that they have anything to offer. I belive that my statement regarding self esteem is key. If you actually think that you can do better, you will see that there is more opportunity with a JD than sitting in a smelly basement complaining about your poor life. There are plenty of jobs for attorneys out there, but you need experience, creativity and a positive attitude, before you can get one. You can not accomplish anything by focusing on how you were fooled into going to law school by Joan King or anyone else (even though I should sue her for malpractice - ha!)

Anonymous said...

I doubt 10:33 PM's story. In my experience, no decent paying professional job is only 9-5, and no decent paying professional job is "stress free".

Whether you are in law, medicine, engineering, sales, business, IT or something else, you don't get highly compensated without taking on significant responsibility and the pressure/stress that goes with it.

Anonymous said...

Today I woke up. I got out of bed. I dragged a comb across my head. I made my way downstairs and hadda cup. And looking up I noticed I was late. I found my coat and grabbed my hat. I made the bus in seconds flat. I found my way upstairs and hadda smoke. Then somebody spoke and I went into a dream.

Anonymous said...

The job 10:33 refers to does not exist. He or she fails to face the fact of a purposeful oversupply of JD's.

Anonymous said...

I recently was not accepted for an electronic document review project, probably for lack of experience. What kind of experience are they expecting from a recent JD? Does anyone know?
I had a sweatshop experience recently with a class action law firm in Long Island, after being hired as a law clerk by an agency named Bernad Nickels. The pay was $11/hour, and to my surprise, I found two recent JDs as my colleagues. Despite being 'law clerk', what I really did, or was forced to do to keep the job, was filing, light data enrtry, scanning, rearranging the entire file-room three times, and cleanig the sweatshop to make it a little habitable for ourselves.

Duration: Approximately a month
Location: Midtown
Pay Rate: $33 an hour

If interested, please send your resume in Microsoft Word ASAP!

Many of our students get good jobs, the undesirables, do not. We don't guarantee employment, but your vile attitudes and unprofessionalism will forever indebt you to the sweatshops. I laugh while you beg the agencies for grunt work.

It's not my problem that you are miserable, wastes of a life who have no hope for permanent employment.

Anonymous said...

Yes, they will be pulling all kinds of angles and since you are a worthless, indentured servant, you will get abused. As always.

Anonymous said...

If you are basically unemployable (spoiled by 4 years of college--which is no longer rigorous--and three years of law school, where you have to do basically nothing and can comfortably smoke weed every day), I think $40 is generous.

Anonymous said...

I never had to "hold out" for a job. I took a $31 + OT once out of convenience and have had $35 and $40 w/OT since. Besides, this summer has had TONS of projects. People only take cheap pay because they feel they need to get experience. Folks, "experience" doesn't pay the bills. Ask anyone who made $35k at a shit PI firm.

Anonymous said...

Hang the shingle? Yeah, that's the ticket, with 1 attorney per 125 New Yorkers good luck.

We've allowed the JD and NY Bar Membership to become too diluted with foreigners and idiots who have no right going to law school. There are just too many of retard lawyers out there.

The sad truth is that being a click monkey is the ONLY chance to make money for thousands of "attorneys" in NYC. It's a tough racket.

No, don't hang your shingle, get the hell out of the law.

Anonymous said...

Note that a recent blogger attempts to convince we readers that there have been a plethora of
gigs this summer paying OT and a base of between $35 and $40 per hour. This contradicts what I've heard from very credible sources. Possibly there were short-term gigs lasting no longer than 1-3 months. But my sources inform me that the days of 3-4 year gigs is over, "but for" a few ongoing gigs that began over 3 years ago - those gigs are staffed by long timers, favored, who hold to those positions, and there is very little turn over. So, just where are all those gigs this summer. It must have been a temp agency staffer who wrote that one.....

Anonymous said...

Hanging out a shingle is a recipe for disaster.

Anonymous said...

Hey 1:12 PM, what do you know about foreigners? If all foreigners are idiots, why don't you canvass for a total ban on immigration? You are stupid enough not even to notice that this country is a land of your so called 'foreigners.' I myself am a foreigner, had been to law school, and, to my surprise, met a lot of 'natives' who were far below average. Stop talking racist shit, you sucker! How did you even came on this site?

Anonymous said...

E.P. Slime should be ashamed to even run such an ad and list a ridiculous hourly rate like this. How stuuupid. The are better off with blind ads on Craigslist and calling applicants back to save the humiliation.

Anonymous said...

well I wasn't calling foreigners idiots. If you read my post it said, "foreigners and idtiots".

I have nothing against foreigners, just the idea that someone can just go to undergrad in their home country and get an undergrad law degree, then just do 1 year of law school (LLM) here and be eligible to take the bar in NY. Most states do not allow it.

It would only be fair if foreigner undergrad trained lawyers were required to get a JD like everyone else. That's what smart jurisdictions do to protect their local, tax paying citizen members.

But not NY.

Again, nothing against foreigners, just the idea that they can take work from one of us who had to go to school for 7 years and a get a JD, while you just to undergrad and an LLM.

Get it?

Anonymous said...

Hey 1:56...

I work for a temp agency as a temp like most of the rest of us. And yes, there were a lot of jobs this summer. I had calls from Hudson, Update, Legal Options, Peak, and Hire as soon as they found out I was available, all in a one week period! And they ranged from $35/ot to $40 flat to $40/ot. Some were 1-2months, others were longer. In all, I had about 8 jobs tossed my way. So yeah, this summer was hot. Shit, people even left projects after one week to move to hotter ones. Ask some of the hardened and disillusioned among us. They can confirm.

Anonymous said...

I just started a new project today. What a fucking joke! The room was full of foreign LLM's! One lady couldn't even speak English. These firms will stop at nothing to get cheap labor and drive down rates. I wonder if the client is aware of the fact that the people reviewing their documents can hardly speak English.

Anonymous said...

Foreign LLM's kept adding to the over supply. It is like going to the emergency room and having a doctor treat me who doesn't speak English...another common event.

Anonymous said...

It is outrageous that American attorneys are attacking attorneys licensed in NYS who happen to be education in jurisdictions other than those in the United States. There are many many positives within this populations. First, they are educated in two(2) differing legal systems (oftentimes civil and common law); they speak several languages, separate and distinct from English; they otentimes have superior manners to my American counterparts; they appreciate the opportunity to have been educated in differing legal systems; and they oftentimes are far more independently minded and have stronger senses of selves because they are now in a system within which they didn't grow up and oftentimes are without family or support systems. We who merely had mom and dad help with undergraduate, provide us expensive autos and living conditions while attending law school and undergrad, and merely grew up in the suburbs should observe those who didn't have the same system and opportunities. I'd love to see my friends who grew up on LI or the burbs of Chicago of other move to a foreign jurisdiction and attempt to hussle to build a life. We all merely sit back on what we 've been given and think the world owes it all to us. Grow up. Or, go try it reverse and see if you can make it - I doubt it. You probably do not even speak a second language or understand the basics of the civil law system.

Anonymous said...

Foreign attorneys with LLM's are very American. "Send us your sick, your weary, the down trodden and we will screw you with it." Agencies love these guys. They bill 27 hours a day. It is a tussel between bringing more of them in to deflate the rate or sending the work to India. I think India will win.

Anonymous said...

10:56 - All interesting points, but this lady speaks VERY LIMITED, broken English. If she cannot understand directions to the bathroom, how is she able to sort through accounting documents with long-winded jargon?

Frankly, this is not the first time I have noticed this. Are the firms really checking to see if some of these people are admitted?

Clearly the above blogger, with two(2) identical statements, may not be able to distinquish between typing entry problems, and an ability to speak English or decipher accounting docs. It also assumes the writer is a woman.
The blogger is just the type of litigant in open court who relies on parsing and throwing out verbal attacks, instead of relying on the substantive law and logic-one of those litigants who provides distracting garbage and undertakes character assasination and maliciously prosecutes as a defence, rather than actually rely on merits and fact of their case.....the usual Anerican blow hard attorney. Another reason to prefer attorneys raised in jurisidctions separate from the U.S.............

Anonymous said...

1:07 - This has nothing to do with me being a woman. Frankly, I don't understand your line of reasoning. I was merely making the basic observation that one of the individuals on my English document review project DOES NOT SPEAK ENGLISH.

Anonymous said...

A woman AND can't speak English? Completely useless.

Anonymous said...

You have to realize a few things about agencies. Most of them like Hudson and Update have a bunch of middle class gals who want to look pretty, pop off a few kids and find a dude to take care of them -- hey, maybe even from the pool of guys they interview! Barring a few older sophisticated lawyers in this game, most of these gals really don't know much and are certainly not half as qualified as the people who register with them. I have two Ivy League degrees, worked in finance for many years and then decided to take time off to take care of the kids, and temp. Once I get to actual employer we get along fabulously and I am hired for long periods of time. But the problem with me most of the time is that most agency gals will just not send in my resume because I don't kiss their ass. I am educated, attractive and assertive and I guess they are just more comfortable with fat, lumpy under-educated gals who are easier to bully. I have worked with so many losers who get placed more frequently than me because they kiss ass and tell the gals jokes and attend their lame X-mas parties. That's just the way it is -- now I try to have a few drinks before I go in to meet these losers and so that their dumbass doesn't get to me. And yes, Update blacklists you for everything. They are really just looking for an excuse so they can place on of those fat saddlebag gals on the case.

3:07 I have seen the same thing happen and wondered why. And I am a guy. The women you describe may appear more dutiful as they have limited opportunities. I kinda like the update girls though.

1:07, Stop throwing a red herring. This has nothing to do with racism or immigration. Simply put, I shouldn't have to compete with "attorneys" with two fewer years of education for jobs with the same salary. And I like the way you conflate immigration with anti-immigration bias. Here's a newsflash for you: immigrants come in all different races.

Fat woman are less likely to date, and therefore are more likely to bill more hours.

Man, you assholes are all incredibly stupid. Please die soon.

The more hours someone bills, the more Update makes. Update doesn't want people going off on dates, nor do they want people heading off to the gym.

I agree with 4:17, "calorically disadvantaged" women will have fewer distractions such as dating to keep them from their coding responsibilities. They will bill more and be on time to work.

The foreign LLM comments aren't racist. Those people do have less education and a language obstacle. I'm certain we wouldn't be scooped up in their country for doc assignments. That is why they are here. It is like the MD with the University of Bombay degree. He passes the foreign entrant boards and now is your primary. And then they have the nerve not to write me scripts for xanex or valium. Useless unappreciative Bastards..... His brother is doing doc review in Mumbai.

The firm doesn't care that some of these people can't speak English. As long as they have a license and have a pulse, they can pay them less and make more money off of them. I specifically remember when one of the clients wanted to come on site. We had to clean everything up, and the nervous acting partner made sure that the client wouldn't get to interact with the non English reviewers.

To 3:48 who likes the update gals -- yeah 'cause you are a guy. They are SUPER nice to all the guys even the ugly ones, but not so welcoming to gals, esp. attractive, educated ones. I had to give them so much cunnilingus to get just one lame project...my tongue still hurts.

Has this been a slow summer? And are things going to pick up in Sept. I've been out of work since July and no one has called for a project. Is anyone else seeing this or am I the only loser?

10:56 - shove your so called outrage up your big, fat ass!

Most states don't allow only LLMs to take the bar. DC doc reviews often request that no foreign trained attorneys apply.

So, only NY and California accept such LLMs to sit for the bar. No one else does, do they?

A bunch of retards/ anti-socials have hijacked this blog lately. Some of them hate fat women. Others hate foreigners and LLM holders. These pathetic losers whine about their low pay, and blame it on foreigners. These stupids seem to think that English is the greatest language in the world. Was bible written in English? How about Koran? (Oh, sorry. They wouldn't even know what Koran is.) The epic poem by Homer? (I am not oblivious of the fact that English has become accepted by most of the populations in the world as a link language). These people display the general American arrogance that they are a superior class by themselves. They don't even possess the basic intellect to recognize that they just happened to be born in America just as another who happened to be born in Iraq.
What has happened to these people?
What has legal education bestowed upon you guys? Show some class, or just stop polluting this site. This site, as I understand, exists to highlight the genuine grievances of a temp, his/her sufferings at the hands of some temp agencies, their plight in the current state of affairs. This is not a site to express your innate hatred toward a foreigner, fat women, or anybody who outsmarts you.

11:39, I don't really think most of these comments are hatred on foreignors. The LLM guys I have met have all been intelligent and very classy. They obviously came from substantial backgrounds and are educated. But, if they are not as qualified in this field as the U.S. licensed attorneys, where are you going with your argument?

It is unjust to hold the rest of us to a higher and more costly licensing standard and let them in the back door. It damages the value and integrity of the license.

Re: 7:31PM Blogger who is asking where are all of those gigs that supposedly existed this summer. So happy you made your point. It HAS been an extremely slow summer. Anyone representing otherwise is only someone who is happy to jump around NYC from firm to form, or location to location, for a mere at the most 3-4 week gig, usually gigs with high turnover e.g. not smile at the wrong person and you are fired......The truth is financial life is going to be rather tough for the next 10-14 months if you haven't landed a job somewhere where you have a regular stream of income guaranteed for the next 10-14 months. Recruiters should not be submitting blogs that lead temps to think otherwise. It really is quite unethical, and rather sleazy.

The days of long term gig seem to be over, for the most part. You have juggle 2-3 weeks projects to make ends meet and it's getting tiresome.

Who else is looking to go back to grad school, or in the alternative, kill themselves? B/c that's how I feel.

I'm going from $35/hr to $29/hr with Frankendine.
