Tower Legal Staffing, Inc

"This is your new home, Rapunzel. I will come every day and visit. It is better if you were away from the city and this is the place I have chosen. Years passed and the child grew -- if they could have seen her. But, locked in her tower deep in the woods, no one saw her."

Tower is a true sweatshop especially if you work out of their premises, right next to Trinity cementery---inadequate bathrooms, crammed review rooms, unfriendly or contemptuous staffers with the exception of one--who is very professional. One has to input the time sheet at a common computer so someone can see your information, the internet area is right in the waiting room/reception.

I heard that if you sit next to recruiter's office they do not want to hear chatter.

Ask people to give a fall report of agencies with a countdown--today we start with Tower!

See what you can do with a law degree, lemmings?!? For the price of your soul and $175K in NON-DISCHARGEABLE student debt, you can work in sweatshop basements churning out toilet paper legal documents, for the princely sum of $16-$25 an hour. And that's not all!

Projects can never develop - or end abruptly. Have a nice life.

Anonymous said...

Leslie Firtell, you fat pig!

Who's the recruiter who doesn't want to hear chatter? Sanna King? Kiss my ass, Sanna! (Or is it Insanna?)

How about the prancing, arrogant project manager Colin Godwin, that prick? You should go back to the chorus in "Mamma Mia," you loser.

Anonymous said...

I am registered with these bums and they never respond to my e-mails or return phone calls. I have never been on a project with them. They require 6 months of electronic document review apparently.

Why waste my time and bring me in to register if you're going to pull this crap? All these agencies suck, there are no projects.

Anonymous said...

3:03, you're not missing much. They're despicable people at Tower, liars through and through, led by the fat pig Leslie Firtell, who learned all she knows about lying from her time at Update. Apparently, she washed out of Update because she was too ugly to be a Stepford Wife.

Anonymous said...

The government claims the recession ended in June 2009. So where are our doc review gigs at $35/hr+OT? Look that didn't really justify the cost of a law degree, but this, this is just absurd.

Anonymous said...

@2:35: lol Colin Godwin. Do you have any good stories about him? He does seem like a total douche.

F@#K TOWER!!! said...

Colin Godwin is an arrogant, nasty, condescending queen. He took over as Tower's project manager after the lying, slimy, bullshit artist queen Andy Limpus left (or was fired by fat Leslie Firtell for being a stupid idiot.) Apparently, Limpdick now has his own agency in DC, so now he's Tower's competition in DC.

Wow - Leslie and Limpdick competing is like staffing agency Special Olympics.

Ivy Temp said...

I have not registered with Tower and probably never will. But my friend Rachel did and she said they hire some total idiots. Some party girl Sunny or Sana interviewed her and was a total ditz - did not know trends in the legal market at all nor the correct pronounciation of law firm names. Besides this chick is posted all over Tweeeter [or whatever that stupid network is called ]. I am sorry dahlings -- I do not waste time with such unprofessional and non-serious types. They can kiss my pilates rock hard ass!!

Insanna Serf said...

It's Insanna, punk.

Her name is sana king - total idiot

Anonymous said...

These tidbits are interesting! I had the pleasure (LOL) of working a short term position over the summer. I would like to know more :)

@Ivy Temp
It is true. I interviewed with Sanna. She did not know how to pronounce the names of some of the major firms. I know she has a MA since she includes it in the signature block of her e-mail. I would bet it is in English Lit (I apologize if I offend English Lit majors ) or something like that.

Yeah, Colin is pretty arrogrant.

The recession is over they say. So where are the doc review gigs? Just that stupid Environmental Law one?

Anonymous said...

I've worked at their office and they come in complaining if they hear so much as a 'peep' coming from where you're working.

Also, they have a mandatory 1 hour break. You just can't take the full hour at one. It has to be 15 min, 30 min, 15 min. Which is complete BS bc there's really not much to do on those 15 min breaks (besides the bathroom).

Anonymous said...

Colin made an announcement "Mamma mia, does it show again? / My my, just how much I've missed you / Yes, I've been brokenhearted / Blue since the day we parted ..."

Anonymous said...

My experience with tower is registering prior to being admitted and telling the recruiter that I was probably going to wait until I was admitted to take a job b/c the wages are so low as an unadmitted j/d. Well, they called me a week or 2 b/f I would be admitted and I told them I wasn't interested. Now they won't return my calls or e-mails.

So unprofessional. Won't deal with them again.

Anyone have any idea on the Document Review market in DC?
I have been out of the game for over a year and looking to get back in. Thanks.

Well, they are OK in DC. So, it all depends on where you're located.

Anonymous said...

I am in NW DC, but can travel througout. Definitely Metro Accessible.

Anonymous said...

I think Colin is a sexy hunk of a man!

Anonymous said...

What about the cheap computers that seem to break down daily in the document review rooms? This is truly a low budget, unprofessional operation.

Anonymous said...

The project managers and team leaders take a course on how to break down, humiliate and demoralize anyone that works for them. 25 lawyers jammed into a room, decades of experience and brains: "Yes'm. No'sir" are the only words that may be spoken.

Anonymous said...

I've probably made 100k working through Tower. As agencies go they are really one of the best. I dont get this criticism at all.

Anonymous said...

@5:59 PM

It is not only about making money. I believe these agencies should act professionally because without the temps, they will have no one to staff their projects. The problem is that there will always be a pool of labor because someone will always take a lower wage and put up with the unprofessional behavior.

I found this forum via some light internet stalking of my ex-wife, also named Sanna King (not the one at Tower. Cooincidentally, I am an ex lawyer, suspended for failing to pay dues in 3 states, and damn proud of it! Get out while you can, practicing law is a terrible thing for a decent person to do everyday. I now work as a bank examiner, which is not exciting, but it beats the everyday dread of having to deal with lawyers all the time.

Anonymous said...

I'm not sure if Tower changed around lately or not, but I did a project for them (my only one with Tower so far) a few months ago.

It was a bank review gig, 2 weeks long, $35 / hr, 12 hour workdays, weekend work included.

It was also some of the best working conditions I've had so far on doc reviews - 13th floor of a highrise with magnificent views of Hudson right in front of me; no oversight of any kind and no internet restrictions. Really, 12 hours of "work" is more like 3 hours of work and 9 hours of paid-job searching. How can anyone complain about that is beyond me.

Not to mention Tower bought food for us all the time - mostly "munch" food, but also occasionally pizza.

Ryan said...

I worked there on 2 short term projects and have nothing bad to say about them. Granted, it was only 8 days and I was in the office, but I thought they were kind people. I've worked for 5 staffing companies and been reviewing docs for 10 months and they were nowhere near the worst. Given that I was making 15/hr more than I was in Michigan, they had room to push the envelope with me, and I still found them faultless.

Who's the new loser, Richard Lansky? That guy scratches himself in the middle of the room. Once I was in a bathroom with him and he didn't even wash his hands before he left. He talks legal gibberish even to clients, you could tell that they hate him. Wish they'd get rid of that clueless cocky midget.

Anonymous said...

Richard Lansky is the "Project management director" or some bs like that. He thinks he's smarter than everybody else and throws BIG words around. His fired ass had nowhere to go, so he ended up in Towers. Hope Towers realizes that this guy will be their future competition and can him before his #$%^ grows bigger. He just made the agency from bad to red alert: stay away from Towers if possible.

Anonymous said...

Everyone in Towers is okay but Richard is toxic! He has a major power-trip and likes to throw his weight around. I pray I don't end up working with him!

Anonymous said...

Towers seems to be changing by hiring non-recruiters like Richard, as the guy seems to get pleasure in treating contract attorneys like it's a sweatshop. He doesn't understand that nastiness breeds bad working environment and distrust among co-workers. It's already a pressure cooker situation at times and his nastiness brings it to boiler point.

Is Sanna still there? This new chick Tracy Comess keeps calling me. I finally respond to her by e-mail and of course, silence. She was a temp before becoming a recruiter with Tower. Leslie is digging to the bottom of the barrel. See (http://www.linkedin.com/pub/tracy-comess/5/109/60a)

Thank goodness Tower has other offices than NY....They have 2 other offices...1 in DC and
1 in NC. The DC office has some great people that work there. The NC office is fantastic!! Nicest people in the world, professional staff and really respect and treat reviewers like family.

I was blacklisted by Tower and I never even took a position with them. I sent my resume on in New York, never heard a word. Then went to register here in Charlotte and was met with a cold shoulder. They claimed that they could use based on the resume I sent in 5 years ago. Let this be a warning to those considering law school.

Tower in DC these days is really okay in comparison with some of the sweatshops. Other K attorneys at this facility are the problems. That and the closed doors that hide what's actually going on in these rooms. I'm on a small, long-term project. One of the newer K attorneys has a large private practice on DC's CCAN panel. She makes calls to clients in the room, while on the clock for the Tower project. She makes personal phone calls as well. The environment is unbelievable. It is horribly disturbing for those of us who just want to do this crappy job to the best of our abilities until something better comes along while listening to music. You have to turn up your headphones to an ear-damaging level just to drown her out. When she's not on the phone, she's chatting with others in the room.

Anonymous said...

After eight years of private practice at a big firm and an in-house position thereafter at a closely held corporation that was dissolved, I find myself in the market for a part-time gig while my waiver application is being processed. Thank you all for the personal comments and the names of those individuals with whom I may need to be particularly careful if an assignment with Tower comes my way. No enemies in a fox hole, right guys?! Thanks again.

In charlotte there must not be much work because I signed up tower and three other places. Worked on a three day and never heard from them again. H had to go to columbia sc. To get a week of work. Tower has you sign no compete clause.

David King...the apparently "lifetime" hiring director at DC Tower Legal (since you'd think he'd have been fired by now) runs this place like his personal CAUCASIAN SLAVE SHIP. He delights in demeaning particularly the white workers while giving favoritism to non-whites in such an obvious manner that it's shocking he has managed to avoid getting Tower sued. He even taped up the air vents so that those wishing the temperature to be 85 degrees while working a 40 hour week could have their way while those of us wishing a more "normal" office temperature of 70 had to sit sweating all day. Thanks to David King and his blatant obvious and constant racism against white contract attorneys, I can say that I have never worked in a more vile place in my entire life time.

Anonymous said...

Yup, I interviewed with this outfit, the white lady married to an Indian guy, wasted two hours of my time going there for an interview, and she never ever called me for an assignment. They've removed their website so you can't post a review to tell the truth. Big waste of time.
