If you are worried about people committing suicide, I would suggest that you tell them to stay away from Lady Sara Kim of Yorkson. I heard rumors that she was nasty, but I didn't realize how nasty she was until I recently dealt with her myself. Talk about a Jeckyll and Hyde personality. When she needs you for something, she's all sweet and butter. Most of the time, she's extremely condescending, tries to make you feel guilty for not buying into one of her low ball sewer rates, and will literally hang up on you mid-sentence. Either Yorkson has one of the worst techncial telephone service in NYC history, or the Lady of Yorkson is just an extreme B.

I went to register with her, was handled by her gay receptionist instead as I heard her try to scare some woman into a shitrate. He hit on me, gave me his card, and niether him nor her have ever responded to an email I've sent. What a waste of a trip to that crap office. The waiting area is two chairs in the corner, and the carpet is 30 years old. Lovely.
she has not been nasty to me, but I have seen her behave in a way that I could only describe as counter-productive, and bad for business, and that would be from an agency point of view. From my point of view and opinion, its bizarre and just weird and kinda creepy.
In my dealings with her she has comes off to me as being some thing of stalker type.
Yorkson is very weird.
Not too long ago, I was doing the back and forth with them regarding an upcoming project. Normally, when you aren't selected the agency will send you a follow up. Yorkson however, left me hanging and wouldn't return my calls.
Look, we can bitch all we want and I told my friends of a tale with the infamous Sara Kim where she wrote me to schedule an in-person meeting, but we had already met a month prior.
She never replied with an apology or an acknoledgement that she made an error.
Nonetheless, if she were to call me up for a gig, I would gladly take it. It beats unemployment and why should I fight with the Benjamins, not to mention if you don't take the job, then you are permitting her to come between you and the "bread".
So bitching is one thing and making a living is another.

Doc. review has no future unless you speak a weird foreign language. And even then, you'd be better off making less money for a year and then lateraling with the experience. What are you going to do, review docs for the next 20 years of your career. Take the pay cut and make the move to substanative work now, while the economy is fucked up.

Also, if you look at the recruiters who do lateral placement, the majority are attorneys.

It's scary but JDs do become recruiters. I don't know if Sara Kim has a JD. The famous Ann Isreal of NYLJ is a JD and a high-end recruiter. There is numerous examples of people leaving the legal field to seek more fufilling and or higher paying occupations.

Why wouldn't a J.D. be a recruiter? You can probably make a lot more money at it with a lot less crap to put up with than a shitlaw job. It's not like the J.D. is prestigious anymore, it's just a piece of paper that anyone can get if they're dumb enough to mortgage their life to go to law school. And that goes for the top schools and the folks that did well at lower level schools, too. Point is that law is dead and if you know anyone thinking of law school, do them a favor and tell them to do something else with their life.
It sounds like Sara Kim is just one of those recruiters that doesn't use lubricant (you know, cookies, butt-kissing "we appreciate you guys so much!", and pizza on Fridays) but the outcome is the same - you still get screwed! Doc review is just like that.

I used to work with sara kim. No, she is not an attorney, nor has she ever worked in the legal world, aside from recruiting. She is insane. Seriously bipolar. Sweet one minute, red faced and raging the next. She employs the "if I shout louder, they will think i'm right" method. Avoid her at all costs.

She not only gave me helpful advice, but also placed me. I've worked with her for years, and I've referred many friends to her as well who have had nothing but kind words to say about her. If I was a client, I wouldn't hire any one of you, no wonder we as contract attorneys have such a bad reputation, it's because of people like you and Tom the Temp who go on these sites and bad mouth people because you can't find work. Get a life! For that matter, get a REAL job. I would agree, i met her recently, spent 45 minutes, one of the better meetings i've had with a recruiter. She knows her stuff and about this industry in general, found her to be refreshing and doesn't give me the standard line most recruiters give you.

Most of the time these low lifes just have you come in and fill out an application to justify their existance at their current agency. Be smart! Dont spend the money to see them unless they have a job for you. Most of the temp positions I have had, I never even met the recruiter (loose term) face to face. I have a BS from the ILR school at Cornell. Bet your bottom dollar that most of these individuals have NO clue about HR and apparently they are illiterate boobs who dont even take the time to read your resume. They all suck, they are all the lowest life forms out there. We should all get together and boycott the agencies. If they have no one to do the work they will disappear. Those cheapo law firms will be forced to do the right thing and hire people and give them benefits.

My experience with them was humiliation followed by insult. I am a professional. There is NOTHING professional about Yorkson or anyone who represents them. I registerd with Yorkson and was interviewed by Sara Kim in Jan 2010, and despite my years of paralegal experience in some of the top law firms in NYC, I have yet to receive any assigment from her or Yorkson. She always asks for resumes and I have emailed the fool at least a dozen or more.

Anyone who has engaged a headhunter to staff up their company knows they are dumb as rocks. They are just good liars. Recruiters are not professionals. Everyone knows that except them.
I had an offer to interview for a Research Specialist position through Yorkson (I am an archivist by trade). The invitation was made mid afternoon last Friday, my acceptance was sent out that afternoon and never responded to. Mid-afternoon Monday, I reiterated my interest and only then was I scheduled for Tuesday at 1:30 with Sara Kim via Skype. 1:30 came and went, and at 1:45 I emailed her secretary reminding them of the interview. I received the following:
"My apologizes but something came up and Ms. Kim had to leave the office. Could we re-schedule for Friday?"
Tell me more about how recruiters are professionals on par with field surgeons on a battlefield? To my mind, the core professional function of a recruiter is to interview and recommend candidates for hire. Sara Kim left her office mid afternoon on a day when she had appointments scheduled with actual professionals with actual trained professional competencies and qualifications, for whom interviewing is merely a precursor to a career rather than their core function, and neglected to notify those who she had previously scheduled interviews with. I didn't want to believe the reputation for Yorkson and Sara Kim this thread reveals while reading up for my "interview" this past weekend, but my experience today fit the bill 110%. Recruiters, specifically Yorkson, are an unprofessional self-justifying racket.
Sara Kim is notorious among the people I currently work with--even those who aren't working with/through/under her.
I'm not asking for pizza, benefits, or OT. I just think all people deserve to be treated with respect, and treated as human beings. Not only will she have no problem wasting your time and money and is fine with not calling you back, or calling you at the last possible second after ignoring you for weeks, she's fine with making ludicrous demands and threats (including putting me "on notice" that 1 more tardy and I'm fired, in response to me giving her the exact dates I would be out in observance of a well-known religious holiday. I had been late that day, had spoken with her then, and no such "notice" had been given).
She is a notorious bitch and I will NEVER take a job through her again. I WOULD rather be unemployed if it meant I was treated like a human being. I was treated with more respect when working minimum wage.
Those of you who have had positive dealings with her are lucky exceptions. If you haven't yet had the pleasure, keep it that way.

The worst mistake I ever made in my entire career (and I had thought I had made some really bad mistakes) was to ever register with Yorkson. it's actually not Sara herself (though she's borderline schizophrenic), it's the owner of the firm who is completely Dahmeresque - A true sado-masochist who refuses to support his own children (seriously) and who treats his employees as if they were the lowest of low. What you get from Sara is merely a top-down push. If she were anywhere else, she would probably be a nice person. Sad to think how she's messed up her life working at that place.

She is a dirty disgusting slob of a person and when i interviewed with her after hiking to her office, i was there less than 5 minutes. this company should be closed down.
