Fight the Trolls

Tom, here is the link from the ABA article asking about this topic. They need our perspective. too many comments about how "buyer beware" or "if you can't get a job your and idiot and don't deserve one" lets give them our POV. I hate the ABA.

Bit of good news of sorts:

The Stimulus package today includes a provision that allows anyone drawing unemployment to get on medicaid/medicare regardless of income or age.

What that means is that at least one of our costs come a few weeks from now may be mitigated somewhat from what we are paying now. Assuming many of you do have health insurance.

This is assuming also that the Conservative Democrats and Republicans do not strip this provision out, but, nevertheless, that gives me some hope of short term relief while I job hunt.

Soon, all doc reviewers will be forced to move to the Kamchatka Peninsula, where they will work 14 hour days in unheated cement bunkers, and be fed lice-infested weasels for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

4:52 said: "They're overqualified, but the agencies and firms are smart enough to treat them well. 5 years down the road, some of these people will be making decesions (sic) about who to hire, or working in BIGLAW again."

Bwahahahaha, nice try Biglaw washout. You are done and screwed like the rest of us. Keep telling yourself the world will/should kiss your ass b/c of your (former) 'status'. Sure, everyone in temp land will love you, b/c in 5 years you'll be the big bad boss again. Get over it troll, welcome to hell.

Nice call out 4:50, this idiot has to be former BigLaw if he thinks the temp agencies give a rat's ass whether he was BigLaw or ever will be again.

NYS UE Fund went insolvent a/o 1/1/09. It has been borrowing from Federal funds since then as have approximately 15 plus other sate UE funds. Those are the facts.

What troubles me is that the NY UE Fund goes insolvent the first year there is a higher than expected UE rate but the State and Federal Housing Subsidy programs remain running like clockwork.

Moral: They give money to Aids victims with 5 kids to live in 1000 square foot 2 BRs in Byshwick before they give money to Unemployed workers.

That OrcaTech article shows no academic rigor, and is more like propaganda with language games. What about this bullshit sentence:

"In eDiscovery, the system would be trained on the documents of the case, so the concept search would focus the top search results on those documents that are most closely related to their major use in the specific collection or, in the case of an ontology-driven concept search, to the meaning encapsulated in the ontology."

"The system would be trained on the documents of the case," it says. Like I train my computer to show video content? Or Google calls a meeting to train their electronic personnel? Such bullshit sleights of language!

It's not that folks on this blog are 'self absorbed' or living in a bubble or oblivious to the fact that jobs are being lost in every sector. The reality is an economy like this is RIPE for litigation (and if you watch the news you will see that EVERY day a new major class action is being waged). The issue is that generally this is PRECISELY the type of economy that yields MORE doc review jobs- not less.

So instead of talking so much shit-if you have a job then be happy and pray that you don't lose yours. Stop talking down about other people who are probably on here simply venting because THE LEGAL JOBS ARE BEING OUTSOURCED THAT SHOULD BE GOING TO U.S. ATTORNEYS. Whether it is one job or one thousand jobs- they are jobs that should be going to us.
