Fashion Advice From Update Legal

"Sullivan & Cromwell's dress code is business casual, SEVEN days a week; there are NO exceptions for weekends or holidays. Please note that the following attire is NOT PERMITTED: denim, sneakers, leggings, track suits, tee shirts, or other such weekend casual wear. We ask that you exercise discretion and reasonable judgment when choosing business casual attire. Whether dressed in traditional business attire or business casual, you should appear neat and professional at all times."

Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Shouldn't the Update recruiters put away their slutty stockings and ugly stilettos before dishing out their own fashion mandates?

I actually like it when they show up. A couple of them look pretty hot. It's far better than some overweight, sweaty pig leaning over you and having his/her gut suffocate you as they hand out your check.

If they showed up in bikinis, it would be even better! Bring on the spike heels and fishnets...

Partners in many of these large law firms are overwhelmingly male. I guess Update's philosophy is to show some female skin while on site and hopefully get on the radar and get some attention from some of the men that make the hiring decisions.

Anonymous said...

Hooter's Legal!

Anonymous said...

Hey, they just understand that you don't get anywhere without a little T and Legal.

Anonymous said...

Hot????? I don't think so. I guess if you are into bridge and tunnel jersey trash.

Anonymous said...

yeah..this blog has lost any value it used to have

Anonymous said...

These bitches are nothing compared to the DeNovo Ho!

Anonymous said...

who is anita

Anonymous said...

Anita is an ugly crow who hired Update sluts to come around and hand out paychecks for her.

Anonymous said...

Is there something wrong with Jersey girls? I don't think that the Update group is generally from this area, though. They seem like Upstaters or Midwestern types to me.

Nevertheless, it's great to see an agency that uses its talent to add a little life to these dreary projects.

Go Update Girls! I think wearing Hooters type t-shirts with "Update Legal" across the front would be great. Maybe they could sell the shirts on their web site.

Jackasses,

Just so they know, they have the dress code to keep you idiots at least looking right--and hopefully you will even think you are at work to actually WORK, not goof around in the sweat pants you wore to law school and played minesweeper when you should have been doing your minimum work (briefs).

When it comes to slutty dressing from females, who cares? I like to see some tittie, etc. If it is a "nice" dress, that is what matters. Boobies showing themselves in nice, professional clothes--good. Crackwhore/club clothes--bad.

This blog has become so snivveling. I have to dress up, but these sluts can dress in a way to make me horny, wah, wah, wah.

How about something relevant? Do you see any discrepencies between Anita's article and your thoughts as you worked for her, Tom the Tittie-fearful?

Anonymous said...

Thanks, Lauren and Wendy at Update

Anonymous said...

Update used to have good looking pussy but now they just hire fat women

Anonymous said...

Anita quiffed on this thread too. Stop it, Anita

Anonymous said...

7:12 - Sweatpants are out on the weekend, but slutty female dressing is ok? Looks like I will be wearing my thong to Sullivan on Saturday!

Anonymous said...

Yup, that pretty much proves it. Roach boy is Lauren and Wendy from Update.

Anonymous said...

Roach boy = failed temp recruiter

Anonymous said...

You are excepted to dress like a whore if you work for clown analyst Alex G No matter how scary ur face ask Tina

Anonymous said...

seems like this is a client's dress code, not something indiscriminate the update prescribes for all its assignments. i don't see why you should be bitching about a double standard that doesn't even exist.

Anonymous said...

Did Anita, whom Tom complained about nonstop about in the past as a tyrant, write an article about how to effectively manage temp attorneys?

Roach Boy, make him comment.

Roach Boy (as Prez. Bushie would say), you are a stand-up guy, 'attaboy.

Anonymous said...

more update skin please

1st: casual friday's should be allowed. still business casual, but dress down allowed. some firms have a jean pool. if you wear jeans on friday, then donate a dollar to charity.

2nd: dress down sundays should be allowed especially if it is a 70 hour + week.

3rd: reality. hard to do laundry if working 70 hours....

Anonymous said...

Hey, Roach Girl! Where are you?

We haven't hear a peep since 7:12 yesterday eveing.

Anonymous said...

Anita did write article on a very similar subject but she will not let her husband tom use it on this site.

She is also mad at him because he keeps calling the law school she graduated from a ttt law school. Now she no longer allows him to talk about that anymore either.

Where did tom go to law school?

Anonymous said...

I break into a sweat when I see Christine Lujan.

Anonymous said...

Ummm, you can't have it both ways. The agency represents the client, so whatever the firm demands is demanded by the agency. There is a lot of passing of the buck on these projects.

Anonymous said...

How about a "Girls of Update Calendar" proceeds can go to charity, like buying restroom deodirizer for the coders.
who'd get which month?

Anonymous said...

I signed in at my job today two hours earlier than I actually arrived. I dont think anyone noticed but I am not all that coherent because I drank a six pack during breakfast.

does anyone know where anita works I want to smooch a little and I am not very fusy at the moment

Anonymous said...

I like Lauren cause I like 'em big! I'd have to role her in floor to find the wet spot if we made love but she is worth it!

Anonymous said...

did you mean flour, genius?

No wonder you are a temp. Proabably didn't even pass the bar if you can't spell flour.

Anonymous said...

Het 2:43 - did you not see that 2:42 also used the word role instead of roll.

you are both brilliant!

Anonymous said...

this message board has gone downhill

Anonymous said...

And you 2:44 - did you mean to say "Het"?

Anonymous said...

All this silly nit-picking. Tsk tsk tsk. All this immature name calling. Tsk tsk tsk. No wonder Anita didn't love us.

Anonymous said...

It's funny that the people requiring you to come in over the weekend AND not wear weekend casual are the same ones that dress like scantily dressed whores during the week. This hypocritical "profession" is such a farcical joke. I don't know how anyone takes it seriously.

I heard that Leslie, Anita, and Tom the Temp are starting up their own agency called Power Staffing.

These lexolution temps wearing shorts are doing Dick Osman a favor. Fire flamed temp flesh tastes the best when it fully exposed to the fire and roasted golden brown.

TIME article:

http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1825863,00.html

And a little snippet:

We generally charge by the degree rather than the time served," says Van Zandt. "The real savings will be the extra year of salary students make by getting out into the marketplace faster." That's around $150,000 and up for most Northwestern Law grads working as first-year associates at top law firms.

The idea of a two-year law program is a response to critics who say the third year of law school is often pointless, since by that stage most law students already have jobs lined up and care more about socializing than getting good grades.

Anonymous said...

is that anita's article? did tom finally post that?

Anonymous said...

Hi, Roach Boy here. Some of you may be wondering why I am so obssessed with anita. Well, as some have speculated (way to go roach girl) I worked on the discover project as was fired. I wasn't fired, as suggested, because of coming in late or drunk or lying on my time sheet. No that wans't the cause at all. Sit back and I will tell you why.

I sat on the other side of the rented update space from anita's glass cubical castle from which she barked her orders.

Suprisingly, even that distance wasn't enough to cover the sound of the viginal farts from the other side of the room. I complained and was immediately fired. I brought a complaint to several labor boards but appearently quiffs are allowed and it is inappropriate to complain about them. Who knew?

So there it is. That's my story.

Anonymous said...

So this guy walks into a psychiatrist's office with a duck on his head. The psychiatrist looks up and asks, "May I help you?" The duck replies, "Yeah, get this guy off my ass."

How are you?

Runnin any projects these days? I am looking for work?

Anonymous said...

Nope, ever since Tom turned soft, I haven't enjoyed kicking the little turds around. As you can see from my article, I run the best projects anywhere. Legal sweatshops are a thing of the past.

Anonymous said...

Update still has the hottest recruiters around...

Is it true that David King is working as a lowly coder now?

Anonymous said...

Hey Tom, how about erasing these stupid "Anita" and "Roach Boy" posts? It's been going on for weeks now and is just clutter. I don't even know what the issue is that this person / these people are talking about. You aren't commenting on Anita's memo? here are roaches in the case room? What the hell are they talking about?

Don't you maintain your site anymore?

Anonymous said...

Hi, Tom here.

To answer your questions, yes I still maintain my site but I just dont care about the important issue anymore. That is the chief reason why I have not touch upon this hotly-debate article written by the woman at constantine who ran the discover project where I was initially inspired to create this post.

Since I dont care anymore I will once and while will post something about law school rankings or tuition prices - I realize that no one cares about that stuff but it is very accessible information and, to be frank, easy for me to use and maintian the pretence that I still care.

I was also sued by update and constantine so I cannot mention either company name anymore.

As for the "roaches" my system tells me that some of the post are originating from constantine and some from the update and the other agencies. I hope that answers all your questiions.

TOM

Anonymous said...

fkn boring, losers

Anonymous said...

On what basis did they sue you? We have to get the word out about these agancies. The Hudson's and Haley Stuart's of the world must be held accountable. If you're not into this site anymore, does anyone know other sites where temps can network and strengthen ourselves against the evil agencies?

Anonymous said...

I for one really do care about tuition increases. The deans, particularly Dean Matasar, are criminals in my opinion.

Anonymous said...

Criminals?!? How are they criminals???

See, I said that these civilized people will eat each other when the chips are down......and nobody listened. Now, how about a magic trick? Anyone got a pencil?

10:10 is Roach boy, up to his old smearing and slandering tricks. He is trying to bury this blog under the weight of his own filthy, disgusting lack of humanity.

He's just a wretched roach.

Tom mentioned Update in this post, so you know he wasn't sued by them. Roach boy is just an absoulte moron and should be ignored.

Anonymous said...

If Tom doesn't want to do this blog anymore, we should find someone who does. This is the only way we can get the truth out to people what's going on here.

Anonymous said...

11:22, it seems that some people are earnest in trying to report true stories on here, but then someone (or several people) post stupid nonsense. Not sure if they're trying to discredit the legitimate problems & grievances discussed on here or if they just have nothing better to do with their time.

Tom needs to take a few minutes every day to delete the stupid posts that aren't saying anything. They aren't difficult to spot these days......

Serious question:

If one has a J.D. from a TTT school - let's say, for the sake of argument, Brooklyn Law School - will going back to school for an L.L.M. help one's prospects for landing a permanent job at a decent salary, with opportunity for advancement?

Anonymous said...

9:03, it's been said (and proven, through bitter experience) that "civilization" is but a microscopically-thin veneer that comes off very quickly, even when the chips aren't down.

It's been my experience that the most vicious people of all are those who affect a "civilized" and "cultured" outer bearing, while inside they are ruthless and cold-blooded. Just observe and analyze some of the power players in the legal profession. Alfred Youngwood comes to mind right away, but I'm sure it isn't hard to find more of his ilk. (The temp agency people?)

Affecting a civilized posture allows these people to get away with their evils. After all, humans are quite stupid, when you come to think of it. If someone isn't showing viciousness outwardly, with bells and whistles going off, most people just assume the viciousness isn't there because they can't see it.

Do you know Hitler was a vegitarian (maybe a vegan) who didn't touch alcohol? So much for high-mindedness in food consumption habits.......

10:19 - generally NO. Unless you get an llm in tax from NYU it will just be more debt and wasted time.

At a certain point you have to accept your TTT status and deal with it. You will always be TTT (like me).

What we were not told is that law is an extremely stratified, snotty profession. Where you went to school matters a great deal. If you were in the bottom 85% of your TTT your options are limited and biglaw is likely just a dream, unless you want to work as a contract attorney.

Your TTT record will follow you forever and you cannot erase it. If biglaw is not an option now, it is extremely unlikely that wasting another $40K on an LLM will help you get it. I know many people with LLMs on document review projects, working as contract attorneys.

I have posted a similar question on Boards from JDunderground, taxprofessionals, to legalcareer; their advice is universal: "no, don't do it."
That said, there are some legal specializations that require an LLM for board certification such as tax and admiralty. Some teaching positions will require an LLM. There is a new LLM that will allow you to take the LPC in UK and become a solictor there.

But, an LLM gives you no special privledges beyond your JD. It has low "street value." Spend your money taking sales classes and building your personal client base. I can not comment on whether or not an LLM for NYU with a JD from BLS will get you into BIGLAW. I am not a BIGLAW recruiter, write to NYLJ with Ann Isreal.

Gotta love this blog if you are looking to make money as a contract attorney. According to the retards who post here I should:

1. Blacklist Clutch
2. Blacklist Tower
3. Blacklist Leslie
4. Blacklist Hudson
5. Blacklist Update
6. Blacklist Lex

What great advice! I'll blacklist the above and starve. Bunch of smarties here.

Anonymous said...

10:48, you're spineless.

That list is obviously not every agency, you jackass.

One of the purposes of this blog is to share information about the legal temping industry. As far as I can see, that includes sharing one's bad experiences with different agencies.

There are certain recruiters and certain agencies that are better to avoid. Many of us have learned this through experience.

There are also certain agencies that will blacklist you if you sneeze on a project.

So, don't believe the hype if you don't want to. You're free.

But you're still a horse's ass.

Anonymous said...

yawn, 10:48 is just roach boy again. Next...

Anonymous said...

Yes, I would also like to highlight the fact that you should avoid Scott Krowitz AT ALL COSTS. He walks around with a fake smile and trys to win you over with some phony b.s. Don't believe it! He is fake and carries around a blacklist!

Anonymous said...

I cannot criticize the Update girls. Hiring attractive women recruiters is part of Update's business model.

Sadly, the cannot staff the projects with similarly attractive specimens.

I've shared space with unfortunates who suffered from chronic halitosis. Some failed to shower. Others had oily hair containing chunks of dandruff. Many of the women are obsese to the extent that their asses hang over both sides of their swivel chairs. They eat fattening lunches and snack the rest of the day.

The men aren't much better. On every project there is at least one guy who is constantly on the toilet - sometimes on his cell phone simultaneously.

This industry, I am noticing, is not comprised of "The Beautiful People."

Anonymous said...

Well, when they blacklist every lawyer in the metropolitan area, don't expect to be on projects with America's next top model. Agencies don't care about how smart or how well-groomed their employees are. They merely want suckups who will do anything they want, people that in no way offer constructive criticism, people that have no problem with having no life and sitting in front of a computer clicking like Humpty Dumpty for 80 hours a week. Update absolutely has the WORSE employees because they are the agency with the largest blacklist.

Anonymous said...

The problem is that everyone sooner or later gets tired of the temp life, which entails no benefits or stability and a constant struggle to maintain and a good attitude in an often disorganized, chaotic working environment. Even reliable temps sometimes crack after they've taken too much abuse. As someone else coined the term, "going codal".

People that get in arguments with recruiters, cause disturbances at the workplace or walk off the job get blacklisted.

Sometimes it's advantageous to be on an agency's shitlist. As long as you know the cause and effect, it's okay. It's better to walk off the job while working in the Lexolution Chicken Coop or De Novo Sweatshop than endure the soul crushing malaise that infects these projects and the sub-human treatment by the firms and agencies.

Anonymous said...

Well put, 7:15. Sums it up in a nutshell.

Yes, vaginosis is a serious thing. For anyone who does not know let me say this.

Bacterial vaginosis is vaginal condition that can produce vaginal discharge and results from an overgrowth of normal bacteria in the vagina. Bacterial vaginosis, reflects the fact that there are a number of species of bacteria that naturally live in the vaginal area and may grow to excess. The Gardnerella organism is not the sole culprit causing the symptoms. When these multiple species of bacteria become imbalanced, a woman can have a vaginal discharge with a foul odor.

There is a cure roach girl. please for the sake of everyone on the project get it taken care of.
