I voted "NO" re Hudson. While Hudson is another crummy agency, I don't believe they should join the slimy and corrupt ranks with Lex, and Update. And Frankendine? GIVE ME A BREAK? That agency needs to be in category all its own. Maybe Hudson has declined over the years, but in the past when I have worked for them, they were reliable and had better paying/more professional projects. I did deal with Zuckerburg and Cohen by the way, and never had a problem with them. Things might have changed. Who knows.

The reason why many temps are so lazy and don't give a shit is because they don't have any stake in the case at hand. It's just like working in the fields of Soviet Russia. If the firm or agency produces good work product and succeeds, what happens? The firm /agency gets more work, gets to hire more people, and gets to generate more profits for its owners. Is it any wonder, why Captain Zuckerberg and Krowshitz are so relentless? What does the temp get, however? Just more clicking projects that provide no growth with stagnant wages. If temps actually had a stake in the growth of their agencies, I always wondered how more professional and better things would be.

Anonymous said...

What do you mean you don't have a stake in the growth? If Lex has a particularly stellar year, you are guaranteed a box of holiday chocolates, as a bonus. With all the money Quinn generated this year, it is almost a certainty. That is, of course, if you can wrestle the chocolates out of the secretary's hands.

Sung to the tune of West End Girls by the Pet Shop Boys:

Third Tier Girls

Sometimes you're better off dead
There's gun in your hand and a claims manager in your head
You think you're mad, too unstable
Kicking in chairs and knocking down tables
In a court room in a Toilet job
Call the police, there's a madman around
Your surfing on JD Underground in a toilet job,
In a Third Tier firm

In an ID Firm, a dead end Job
The Toilet boys and Third Tier girls
In an ID Firm, a dead end Job
The Toilet boys and Third Tier girls
Third tier girls

Too many motions, screaming voices
Settle for $500?, too many choices
If, when, why, what?
How much of a reserve have you got?
Have you got it, do you get it, if so, how often?
And which do you choose, a hard or soft option?
(How much do you need?)

In an ID Firm, a dead end Job
The Toilet boys and Third Tier girls
In an ID Firm, a dead end Job
The Toilet boys and Third Tier girls
Third tier girls
Third tier girls

(How much do you need?)

In an ID Firm, a dead end Job
The Toilet boys and Third Tier girls
In an ID Firm, a dead end Job
The Toilet boys and Third Tier girls
Third tier girls

You've got a heart of glass or a heart of stone
Ramen noodle special when I get home
We've got no future, we've got no past
No matter what, our student loans will last
In every city, in every station
New law school grads join the Toileteer Nation
(How far have you been?)

In an ID Firm, a dead end Job
The Toilet boys and Third Tier girls
In an ID Firm, a dead end Job
The Toilet boys and Third Tier girls
Third tier girls

Third tier girls

Third tier girls
(How far have you been?)

Third Tier Girls
Toliet Boys
And Third Tier Girls
And Third Tier Girls
(... forever)
And Third Tier Girls
(How far have you been?)

Toilet Boys
Third tier girls
The Toilet Boys

I will add that we must also check Compliance Legal, I am currently on a project for them and they lied to us---we are only getting paid $31.00 per hour on a top litigation.

Anonymous said...

I second the Compliance addition. I will add ask TTT to add, De Novo and its crew--Evelyn, Sandrene and Susan (the nasty woman from payroll). These gals are nasty, angry and act towards contract personnel like we are just cattle. Evelyn is so full of anger and discontent and takes it out on us.
Ladies, we are paying for your salaries and putting food on your tables, so cool it! Why are you so angry and full of hatred?

You really should clarify the survey questions. Law firm and agency operations differ greatly from city to city.

I might have a negative view of a firm or agency's operation in NYC, but might have a favorable view of their D.C. one for example.

I'm assuming you are referring to the NYC operations only.

Odd as this may seem, I've never had a problem with Hudson, and Zuckerberg has been much more honest with me than a lot of the other agency hucksters.

Anonymous said...

Hudson sucks, and they're still trying to sucker admitted attorneys into working on the Vioxx case for $27 an hour. Fuck 'em.

Anonymous said...

I also voted NO on adding Hudson to the list. I interviewed with Cohen and thought him to be a nice guy. They called me for projects and he whole crew was decent.

Anonymous said...

I heard from a reliable source Zuckerberg was fired from Hudson and is now babysitting for $7 an hour. She was never a "captain" at Update nor Hudson and is most likely responsible for the majority of the hateful remarks we've seen in recent times toward Hudson. I've dealt with her on many occasions and she's just a hateful, scary looking bitch. Couldn't even finish law school.. pathetic, really.

Anonymous said...

You might have to double check that "reliable" source. My cousin works for that agency and you have NO idea what you are talking about.

Anonymous said...

Yes on Hudson for two reasons:

1) the blacklist

2) the way they've treated people and allowed them to be treated by Hughes Hubbard and now Dechert on the Vioxx case.

Anonymous said...

11:22, *You* are quite pathetic, really. You still not over the fact that Zuckerberg the hot agency girl wouldn't go out with you, let alone put you on an assignment.

SAD.

We all know who you are. Get a life. Start with getting at least a temp job.

Anonymous said...

It's always the guy who can't get laid who is the angriest. This dude must have been big time rejected by Julie to be so angry with her for this long. Must suck for him- no job and no girl.

Anonymous said...

what these a$$holes don't understand is that when the agency people make you this mad, they have truly won.

Anonymous said...

12:14 - you've got it all wrong. I don't date JAPs, no matter how hot they are.

And Julie Z. is a JAP Supreme.

BEWARE of the firm Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto!

This is a firm that this past week started a "6 day project, through the weekend, with intensive hours" on a Thursday (so they won't have to pay any OT), then 'breaks the news' on Friday that "there will be no work on the weekend and your services won't be needed until Monday night at 6 pm (?) or Tuesday morning for one day."

This bullshit is occurring right now.

The project was staffed by Special Counsel, which doesn't seem to be a problem agency, at least not as much of a problem agency as FrankenDine, Update, or Lex. It seems that Fitzpatrick might've played them, too.

But you never know with these scumbag agencies - I'm sure common sense would've told them that they'd never be able to staff the project if they gave the real terms.

People have said that Fitzpatrick Cella plays this bait & switch game a lot.

So beware, temps!

Anonymous said...

Yes! Every firm and agency should be on alert that this type of B.S. "bait and switch" will not be tolerated by the lowly. powerless temp attorney community in NY.

Your names will be plastered on this and every other blog, getting the word out that you're underhanded liars.

So, if you don't like what happened to Quinn Emanuel, Lexolution, and EP FrankenDine this past summer, DON'T LIE ABOUT HOURS, PAY RATE, OR PROJECT DURATION TO US!

Anonymous said...

You should have known about Fitzpatrick. This was posted on the tempatty site several months ago:

"Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto

Position: Contract Attorney Rating

Horrible. We were shoved into a tiny room with no a/c. Air was stale and hot. We were watched constantly, and leaving the building was extremely difficult, if not impossible. We were cheated out overtime, and the woman that ran the project tried to deny us our food and transportation, even though we were initially promised the stipend and even though we were required to work past 10 pm."

TTT, time to add THIS LOW-CLASS firm to the list!

Anonymous said...

Aside from that Dechert/Hughes Hubbard horror show, Hudson is a typical run of the mill agency. I've never personally dealt with Zuckerbe(u?)rg, but I have dealt with Cohen, and he is one of the more nicer, upstanding people that I have come across in a niche industry full of snakes and back stabbers.

It's ashame that agencies drag their reputations through shit by dealing with the scummy likes of Quinn, Paul Weiss, and Dechert. These are large projects, however, and they must generate a mountain of revenue, so who can really blame them. We have all seen how firms can drop an agency at the drop of a nickel if their dirty deeds aren't carried out.

Anonymous said...

genius - 'more nicer'

Anonymous said...

You really have to add Hudson to the list for hiring people like the sniveling "supervisor" Patrick. He's toxic, unprofessional, and is responsible for the livelihood of hundreds of people who are far more educated than he is. He's an embarassment to the whole Hudson organization and is one of the reasons the whole 65 project is a complete horror show.

Anonymous said...

7:24, Cohen is one of the "snakes and backstabbers" to whom you refer. He may come across very sheepish and polite, but he's a wolf and a liar and he blacklists people for the smallest reasons. (Hudson's blacklist now rivals Update's, and that's an accomplishment.)

I'm not sure how you could stand up for anyone who has been complicit in allowing 65 Broadway to continue for 3-4 years. It's akin to a Nazi saying "I was only following orders" after WWII. Did that absolve them from responsibility? Allan has only been "following orders" all these years, sending people into overcrowded, miserable, unsanitary fire traps so he can make a buck. Does that absolve him, too?

Anonymous said...

Hudson here in DC are real cunts. They must be friendly in NYC for you to vote. No one has anything nice to say about them here in Washington.

Anonymous said...

hirecounsel put a NY job up on monster.com today that pays $18-25 an hour. Pure fucking evil.

Anonymous said...

HireCounsel is pure trash. Does anyone remember Denise Fischler? What a psycho bitch that one was.

Anonymous said...

you know I have been seeing a lot of gigs lately that are paying less than usual, I wonder if the agencies are acting in collusion to try and force down wages?

Anonymous said...

Of course, they are. You don't think the agencies talk to each other? What's good for one goose is good for the gander.

Anonymous said...

Voting so far doesn't look good for Hudson. Looks like the S.S. Temptanic has popped a hole.

Anonymous said...

Hudson wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the blacklist.

Basically, if you leave a project for any reason other than the project ending, you're blacklisted.

This includes being fired by one of the psycho supervisors on the Vioxx case (65 Broadway & One Battery Park Plaza). Psycho supervisors have included Lisa Hart (Lily) and Neil Bregman (Eggman). These people are so warped that if you so much as blink at them the wrong way, you get put onto their "shit list" and eventually get fired.

Once you're on Hudson's blacklist, there's no way to argue or reason with Cohen, Zuckerberg, Brett Parker, or any of them. If fact, once you're blacklisted, there's no way to even communicate with them - they don't pick up the phone when you call or return voicemails or emails.

Anonymous said...

Hey 6:50 - what did you do to get fired? Fall asleep at your computer or come in late 20 days in a row?

Anonymous said...

at least a.cohen can go through the day today without being stared at. no need to be self-conscious about his horns. the j**devil can breathe easier...happy halloween!

RE:BEWARE of the firm Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto!

Second that!

I was on a case for those assholes months and months ago. They would constantly run out of docs and send us home for a day or more while they reloaded.

While those problems might be IT/Hudson related, there was this asshole:
http://www.fitzpatrickcella.com/attorneys/bio.cfm?id=239

He roamed the cubicles and would literally knock on our cubicle walls if we were talking. Then one day he came up while I was eating my lunch and playing solitaire, very clearly on a break, and yelled at me for wasting billable time. Ironically, that was one of the few times when I wasnt on the clock and wasting billable time, but what did he know.

Anyway, I left that project and despite being called by Alan, Julie and Brett to come to another Fitzpatrick job I turned them down.

Steer clear of Fitzpatrick and Hudson too if you can

The hudson xmas party is going to be held in the Paul Weiss "concourse" work room in 2007. Unlimited roach canapes, ceiling leak juice shots, and busted commodore 64s for party favors. Come one, come all!! Youngwood eagerly awaits you.

do you mean robert cohen?

Anonymous said...

no. allan cohen, the shifty **wbag.

Anonymous said...

ah, ok - thanks!

I vote yes for Hudson being sleazy. Following contact with Hudson representatives (Treaden and another woman at an HHR meeting and phone and e-mail contact) to voice complaints about physical working conditions, overbearing and self-idolizing supervisors (Hart), demeaning supervisors (Bregman - nothing like hearing about the attorneys labeled consistently by Bregman to be "retards", "slow group", "incompetents" - take a stab at what he calls us outside of 7-7) Hudson appears content to allow business as usual. Hudson is our employer, but appears to care for nothing more than to collect cash for our work and allow our complaints to remain unremedied. But they are paying my bills so I'll continue to work to ensure another righteous "V"ictory.
