Value to me is knowing from whos to stay away from and which staffing agencies not to do business with, be it in NYC, DC, Boston, and Phili. The recruiters themselves should care about not wanting to see their names up here...what other check and balances do we mere mortal doc reviewers have than something like this to expose those recruiters victimizing us. Only way to regulate it, as long as it isn't done in a way that moves close to libel or defamation. If it is true, it is their problem. They just need to deal with it, get their act and stuff together, and alter their behavoir, both as to interaction and how they hire and who they hire.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19584611.post-8657393060273774242010-03-18T21:57:11.142-04:002010-03-18T21:57:11.142-04:00Why shouldn't this blog "name names"...Why shouldn't this blog "name names"?

The whole point is to expose crooks and nasty bitches like thoe at Elaine P. I am totally into the idea of redoing this system, as long as I am not required to devote 5 years ti to skill-less poverty law, community activist groups (former ACORN), or pro bono. Give me something that actually is useful clinically (such as lots of contracts drafting etc.), rather than stick me in some P.C. approved internship or whatever in exchange for student loan forgiveness.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19584611.post-29367406566340455702010-03-18T19:45:09.501-04:002010-03-18T19:45:09.501-04:00Links for IBR:

I don't think prior payments count as a part of the program. But, I am not certain.

As for the private debt, my advice is to defer your federal loans or use IBR to reduce the repayment as much as possible so that you can solely pay off the private debt. I don't know your specific debt situation.

Paying off the private debt is what I've been doing because I realized that a) the private debt is much more difficult to deal with (an I am nearly done with the private debt) and b) depending on your interest rate, the public has a lot more flexibility to be repaid later without it harming the overall debt or the means to repay it.

Basically, once I am done with the private debt, I will still owe a lot , but that debt being public gives me a lot more flexibility, and peace of mind than owing some private debtor (who has all the protections of being a public loan without the public interest that the feds have).

This advice worked for me. Each person's financial situation will vary a lot. You should really sit down to research on how you can deal with the debt. It sucks, but that's the best advice I can give you. I made the mistake of following others for along time, and wasted a lot of time and money because of not individualizing my planning to reflect my situation.

Finally, returning to IBR, despite the venom against the administration, the fact is they are trying at least with student loans to make it easier for us. The proposals were to include shifting the time for forgiving the debt to 20 years and 10 percent of income. But, it seems like only the 10 percent of income survives. I am not 100 percent sure it will pass due to Sallie Mae and other companies blocking the reform.

That this site and others bitching at the system are not discussing this very real issue for us is amazing. How many of us would have better piece of mind if our cost of student loans were capped at 10 percent of income based on expenses? I got to think that would be very useful.

Anyway, I hope this help. I stumbled onto this info myself, and was surprise no one was talking about it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19584611.post-77609935872803358672010-03-18T18:48:30.937-04:002010-03-18T18:48:30.937-04:00Thank you so much for the info from the 4:44 pm po...Thank you so much for the info from the 4:44 pm post.

How do you get signed up for the IBR and do you have more info for that program? This approach is based on 15 percent (soon to be 10 percent of your income and expenses) and after 25 years (they are trying to reduce it to 20) the remaining debt is forgiven. The value of IBR is that if you are not making an income- the repayment is zero. Thus unlike deferments, as far as I understand it, the months of zero payment count against the time for forgiving the debt.

Support the legislation seeking to reduce the amount 10 percent per month. The loan companies like Sallie Mae are fighting the bill.

This site should be posting information about this effort daily as it affects many of you.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19584611.post-69981828366324285392010-03-18T15:55:53.909-04:002010-03-18T15:55:53.909-04:00Blogger 2:23PM is "on point". That said, it is clear that the each of the comments about the issue of number of documents reviewed daily or hourly is really about what many oc reviewers have observed during projects. What may appear as accurate coding, and someone not moving quickly, may also have to do with a) reading speed and comprehension and intellectual focus vs. b) reviwers who disappear on their cell phones for 30 minutes of every hour, to only argue that their reduced numbers refrlects their clean coding. There is no one rule, we've seen everything, and seen too much ripping off of the agencies by the very people the recruiters think are deserving to be called a favorite.
